Due to Manila’s frenzied traffic situation, many of us opt to book a transport service especially when we have an important affair to attend to or are simply in a rush. There are times, however, when the car we reserved also get stuck in the middle of the road. Instead of dealing with it with patience, we tend to express our annoyance to the driver without an attempt to understand their valid reason.

Meanwhile, an Uber passenger recently made headlines on Facebook after narrating his encounter with the app driver. He wrote:

“Kanina around 11:30 am pauwi nko from sta. lucia mall pinick up ako ni kuya na may kasamang pag aalala at super pasensya,dahil na late siya ng 12MINUTES. At siyempre galing ako ng CHURCH kaya naman walang kaso saken yong 12minutes na yon.”

The passenger, named Kier Hairrie Roman, then commended the Uber driver Teofisto Torres for his sincere apologies for his 10-minute tardiness. But what moved Kier, according to his post, was when he saw Teofisto suddenly grabbed a plastic filled with rice and viand. Everytime the car takes a halt amid the traffic, Teofisto grabbed a bite of his meal.

“Suddenly nung arriving na kame mejo traffic sa MARCOS HIGHWAY at kada tigil nmin may dinampot siyang plastik na may lamang kanin at nandon na din ang kanyang ulam. Sinasamantala ang kada minutong paghinto nmin para sumubo ng mabilisan dahil nagugutom na daw siya. Then i asked him to have a break muna para makakaen siya .sabi nya okay lang daw kase may naghihintay padaw na rider after ko.”

Kier said he could not help but feel sorry for the Uber driver, adding that Teofisto had no water with him. He then called out passengers who are impatient to the drivers of the vehicle they made a reservation to. He said:

“LESSON. MAGING MAPAGPAKUMBABA SA LAHAT BAGAY AT WAG SILANG TARAYAN.DAHIL MAY MGA SINASAKRIPISYO DIN SILA SA KABILA NG KAGUSTUHAN NATIN NA MAKASAKAY AT MAKARATING NG LIGTAS SA ATING MGA PUPUNTAHAN.”
